Scenic beauty surrounded us as my bride and I hiked toward an enticing waterfall in Upstate South Carolina. Nearing the falls we were greeted with the low hum of water cascading down Twin Falls, near the community of Eastatoe, deep in the heart of the South Carolina Mountains. Amazingly South Carolina has breathtaking mountains, spectacular waterfalls and so much more, even more than I could imagine.
Thanks to my wife, Kathy, we were treated to some of the most gorgeous back-country beauty imaginable.
South Carolina beckons us to come and experience some of the best that this country has to offer. Come and enjoy some of its treasures and experience the down-home southern hospitality of its people.
Come with me and visit breathtaking vistas, mountainous terrain and cascading waterfalls in upstate Carolina.
Follow me to Lake Murray and enjoy a day on the water fishing with a true southern gentlemen and guide, Captain Mike Glover. South Carolina is chock full of lakes teaming with big fish and Lake Murray is a world class striped bass fishery, second to none. Join me in Captain Mike’s boat as we catch and release large stripers, almost too many to count. Though there is a limit on the stripers, there is no limit for catch and release and catch them we did!
Come with me to Moree’s Sportsman (Preserve) for sizzling quail hunting action with guide Billy Benson. Spend the day behind their pointers and setters and you’ll experience a taste of quail hunting from days gone by. The birds are plentiful, and the action is fast and furious.
If you’re a bit rusty then join us for a round of skeet, or trap and hone your skills while participating in a fun competition against your friends.
Follow Cissy Johnson into the woods on an early morning turkey hunt and listen to the thunderbirds belt out thunderous gobbles as they (greet) the day’s dawning each morn. Johnson is an avid turkey hunter and guide second to none in the area and she knows what it takes to conquer an old gobbler.
Deer are plentiful on Morees and General Manager Mike Johnson can put you one a nice buck. If you’re partial to wild hogs they have some of the largest hogs in the state with 400 to 600-pounders roaming the woods.
Join Alan Clemons on a bass fishing excursion at Morees and catch and release as many as you like. Maybe catfish is your preference, you’ll find plenty here, too. Experience the outdoors on a trail bike, or ATV if the thrill of speed whets your appetite.
When you’re done at Morees there is a multitude of lakes and rivers in Carolina just teaming with bass, stripers, catfish and crappie. Take your pick, freshwater or saltwater, South Carolina has it all.
Follow me to Florence and experience southern hospitality at its finest. Florence offers a variety of cuisine and beverages that are second to none.
Whether you want to explore the area by hiking, biking, horse riding, or kayaking, opportunities abound just a short distance away. Follow me to the Lynches River and enjoy a day of kayaking fun and sightseeing.
Sparkling water and white sandy beaches are just a short drive from Florence, making it a destination attraction for the whole family.
Who knew South Carolina was so rich in natural wonders and resources? From the gorgeous Upstate mountain vistas filled with cascading waterfalls, to the woods and waters throughout the state, to the sparkling beaches of the low country, there’s something here for everyone.
