There is still time to register for this weekend's 22nd Annual Boy Scout Golf Tournament hosted at Briarwood Country Club Saturday and Sunday.
The two-man scramble format tournament has long been one of the main fundraisers for the Boys Scouts of America Choctaw Council and not only offers a chance to help out the organization, but an opportunity for some fun and relaxation as well, according to tournament co-chairman Benji Brown.
"It gets bigger every year and its really fun," said Brown of the event. "I've been a part of this tournament for eight or nine years now and its been fun to be involved with it.
"Its all for a good cause and every bit of the money raised goes to the Boy Scouts."
There is still room for participants and teams can register as late as Friday morning. The entry fee is $180 per team or $90 per person which includes one free practice round and lunch on Saturday. There will be a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. as well as 1:30 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.
"As of now we have about 80 teams signed up to play," added Brown. "We are looking to get up to 90-96 teams before its over."
Other activities included in the tournament are a putting contest on Saturday, closest to the pin prizes and a Las Vegas Hole on Sunday where a hole-in-one can win a car. Two La-z-Boy recliners are among several prizes to be won.
