I would like to take this time to thank the people of the local TV and radio stations for their prompt and up-to-date coverage of the weather.

Monday when we had the heavy rain, I was in my car driving home — no phone to check on my children, simply the radio to let me know what was going on. It’s a comforting feeling to know that someone is keeping an eye out when you can’t.

During any of the bad weather, I have always been able to rely on my local TV and radio stations to keep me informed. They do more than they realize: They give peace of mind. My daughter was stuck at the mall, and being able to know where the worst parts of the rain was really helped me to feel secure about getting to her.

We take a lot of things for granted, and we don’t always thank the people we should. The media don’t get enough thanks. From what I’ve seen, the media are only recognized when they do something wrong.

Thank you all for taking the time to go beyond the call of duty.
