I would like to know if other people driving down 23rd Avenue by Magnolia Cemetery have noticed how unkept it is. The grass is always high, and the road going into it is full of potholes. I have heard that right before Sonny Montgomery’s funeral, the city of Meridian filled a few of the potholes.

Every time I complain to the cemetery office about flowers staying on the graves too long, graves that are sinking (which is not very comforting to the family) or the grass is not being mowed, they say their lawn mower is broken, or they are having too many funerals and are busy getting graves ready.

It seems to me that they need either to hire more employees — or the ones they have should be working instead of sitting in a truck under a shade tree. I understand this is a privately owned, perpetual care cemetery and there is a lot to be desired.
