We have just celebrated the progress the nation has made in race relations by observing Martin Luther King Day, but we need to remember that King gave his life fighting a two-headed beast.

As with racism, he spent much of his time and energy opposing the war in Vietnam because you can't separate the "Siamese twins" of racism and militarism; the spirit that fuels racism is the same spirit that propels militarism.

Due to King's effort and sacrifice, the racist head of this two-headed dragon has been bruised, but we are still victims of the beast. The venom of militarism is dissolving the spiritual, moral and ethical tissue of society. The poison of hate, dishonesty and greed is paralyzing the nation.

Like the male black widow spider, we are "in bed" with a hungry monster and are being eaten alive by the "military-industrial complex" that Eienshaur warned of.

Where is the Christian church in this picture?
