No evidence has been found linking a Lauderdale County man to the disappearance of a Linden, Ala., woman last seen in Meridian Sept. 7, Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie said Friday.
John Poisso was picked up by deputies with the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department Thursday evening and questioned about the disappearance of Rebecca Henderson Paulk, 26, who was reported missing by her parents.
Deputies executed a search warrant on Poisso's home on Old Wire Road but found nothing that tied him to Paulk's disappearance, Sollie said.
"At this time we have nothing concrete to end the investigation with an arrest," Sollie said.
Friday morning, Poisso was in custody at the Lauderdale County Detention Facility on misdemeanor charges unrelated to the case.
The day after Paulk was spotted in Meridian, her car was found in a ditch on a rural road near the community of Whynot with valuable items, including Paulk's purse, still inside.
A search of the area by deputies and canines yielded no clues, authorities said. Paulk's parents, Demopolis, Ala., residents Wes and Janet Henderson, have offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to her location, The Demopolis Times reports.
Anyone with information about Paulk's whereabouts or her disappearance is asked to call the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department at 601-486-4952 or Crime Stoppers at 855-485-TIPS.
