The regular season ends for Mississippi’s MHSAA basketball teams this week, while the MPSA members step up their level of postseason play.

In the MPSA Class AAA Division II State Tournament at Madison-Ridgeland Academy, Lamar School’s boys play Starkville Academy at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Lady Raiders face Magnolia Heights on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Leake Academy will host the MPSA Class AA North State Tournament at Madden, Tuesday-Saturday. Both Leake teams will play Tuesday. The Rebelettes take on Kirk at 6:30 p.m., while the Rebels host Clarkdale Lee at 7:45 p.m.

Prentiss Christian School will host the MPSA Class A South Central State Tournament with the top four boys’ and girls’ teams from last week’s District 5-A Tournament at Kemper Academy advancing. Game times were unavailable by press deadline.

In regular season games on Tuesday, Newton County hosts Choctaw Central and Southeast Lauderdale hosts Morton in Division 5-3A action.

In Division 5-4A, Quitman hosts Wayne County.

In Division 4-4A, West Lauderdale hosts Neshoba Central and Northeast Lauderdale hosts Noxubee County.

In Division 7-2A, Newton goes to Bay Springs and Clarkdale hosts Enterprise.

In Division 5-2A, Union travels to Durant to take on Williams-Sullivan and Kemper County hosts Scott Central.

In Division 6-1A, Lake hosts Mississippi School for the Deaf.

Non-division action finds Northeast Jones at Heidelberg.

Thursday’s only MHSAA action has Union going to Pelahatchie in Division 5-2A.

On Friday, Newton hosts Choctaw Central in a battle of the 2005 Class 2A and Class 3A girls’ state champions.

DeKalb will be the site of a fine boys’ matchup as Kemper County hosts Northeast Lauderdale.

In Division 4-4A, West Lauderdale goes to Macon to take on Noxubee County and Neshoba Central goes to Louisville.

In Division 5-3A, Newton County hosts Morton and Southeast Lauderdale goes to Forest.

In Division 5-2A, Philadelphia travels to Madison St. Joseph. Lake hosts South Leake in Division 6-1A.

In non-division action, Meridian goes to Northwest Rankin, Quitman travels to Bay Springs, Clarkdale hosts Noxapater, Enterprise goes to Scott Central and Heidelberg hosts Wayne County.
