Experts say the economy is beginning to slowly recover.
Any news of ways to retain jobs while starting new businesses thereby creating more positions is good news.
In a press release issued by the East Mississippi Planning and Development District, officials say money is available for loans to new and expanding businesses and industries within East Central Mississippi. The release states more than 100 loans have been approved totaling abut $12 million resulting in the creation or retention of more than 1,000 jobs.
The goal of the revolving loan fund is to create private sector job opportunities and support businesses development by overcoming gaps in local capital markets. Over the last several years, funds have been made available by the Economic Development Administration under the United States Department of Commerce for the nine counties within the East Central Planning and Development District. Other funds have also been made available from the Appalachian Regional Commission, Rural Development, and the State of Mississippi.
