The Boy Scouts of America will hold its annual Pine Wood Derby at Bonita Lakes Mall today.

The event will take place in the JC Penney Court of the mall. Ross Tingle, senior district executive for the Choctaw Area Council, expects more than 1,200 people to be present for the event, which will last approximately four hours.

"Bonita Lakes Mall has been the host for the Boy Scouts Pine Wood Derby for several years and is happy to continue our relationship with this great family-friendly organization," said Jana Kuner, marketing director of Bonita Lakes Mall.

Also at the mall today, the American Heart Association will hold its "Go Red For Women" event.

Women are encouraged to dress in red and stop by the Heart Association booth in the Dillard's court of the mall.

Customers can also donate to help save women's lives by purchasing a $5 red arm band or a red dress pin at the mall's Customer Service Desk.

All proceeds benefit the American Heart Association. A red arm band or dress pin will entitle the bearer to discounts to participating stores at the mall.
