A man who broke into a residence in a Meridian apartment complex Wednesday morning surrendered without further incident to officers of the Meridian Police Department.

TaDarryl Rodercick Rew, 27, of Meridian, was taken into custody at about 10 a.m. outside the residence at Village Apartments located at 2015 Mosby Road. A handgun was also recovered during the arrest. Rew has been charged with residential burglary, simple assault, two counts of kidnapping and possession of a weapon by a felon. Rew's bond amount handed down in Meridian Municipal Court totalled more than $170,000.

MPD Chief Benny DuBose said Thursday Rew, armed with a handgun, allegedly broke into the residence with the intent of burglarizing it but discovered two of the residents inside. After a short time, Rew is said to have released the two victims and later surrendered to authorities.

"Nobody was hurt during the incident and that is the most important aspect of this case," said DuBose. "Of course, getting the perpetrator into custody is vital as well."
