It promises to be a perfect weekend for golf and for raising money for Relay For Life.

Trip Ward, a spokesman for Mississippi Power, said the field for the Mississippi Power 10th Annual Relay for Life Golf Tournament is just about full.

"The field is more than three-quarters full but we want a full field to help in this worthy fundraiser," said Ward.

The tournament will be held Saturday at Ponta Creek Golf Course at Naval Air Station Meridian. The cost is $55 per person and that is a steal considering it covers green fees, cart, mulligan and lunch. The tournament is a three-man scramble format. Registration is at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Catfish will be on the menu along with the usual fixings including hushpuppies.

"I've played Ponta Creek in the past couple of weeks and the course is in great shape," Ward said.

Ward said this is Mississippi Power's largest fundraiser for Relay For Life. He said with only about eight or nine slots still available for such an important cause those who want to get in on the fun better hurry.

"We might be able to squeeze in a couple more teams past the original 36 but we'll just have to wait and see how everything ends up before tee time," said Ward.
