East Central Community College in Decatur has named members of its District Workforce Council for 2006-07.

Dr. Phil A. Sutphin, ECCC president, made the announcement saying council members provide “valuable advice” to the college “as we seek to plan and implement a program to train employees for the businesses and industries in our five-county district. Their input is invaluable.”

Council members from Leake County include Monte Ladner, director of career-education for Leake County Schools; Linda Shepard, executive director, Leake County Development Association; and Marty Williams, manager of corporate relations/training for Tyson Foods.

Representing Neshoba County are Frank L. Moore, owner/president, Hardy Manufacturing Company Inc.; S. Guy Nowell, president, Merchants and Farmers Bank; and Marie Partridge, mill-services coordinator, Weyerhaeuser Company.

Tapped from Newton County are Darrell Edwards, general manager, La-Z-Boy South; Paula Kerr, GED instructor, ECCC; and Andy Rowzee (co-chair), site manager, ESCO Corporation.

Serving from Scott County are Bridgette Ballard, training coordinator/staff recruiter, Raytheon Systems Southeast; Allen Breland, president/CEO, Bank of Forest; and Patsy Nicholson, human resources coordinator, Unipres Southeast.

Council members from Winston County are Ricky Culberson, production supervisor, Georgia-Pacific; David Mills (chair), manager, Polo Custom Products; and Rodis E. Shealy, director of manufacturing engineering, Taylor Machine Works.

Roger Whitlock, director of the College’s Workforce Development Center, serves as council executive secretary.

Whitlock also praised council members for their service to ECCC.

“The Council represents every sector of employment in the college’s five-county district,” he said. “These individuals provide valuable insight and specific direction in assuring that ECCC provides services in meeting the technical and interpersonal needs of workforce members to a standard of quality that enables greater contribution in the workplace.”
