Joseph Knight, a native of Union, recently joined the staff at Meridian Community College’s Department of Community and Business Development as Assistant Dean.
In his new role, Knight is responsible for managing the day to day operations of MCC Community and Business Development and supporting its various programs: Career Development, Workforce Development, ABE/GED, Continuing Education, and the East Mississippi Development Corporation.
Knight is also responsible for working with industrial development groups, the State Employment Service, economic development representatives, and civic organizations to establish and maintain an environment desirable for the employment community.
He brings eight years of community college experience and 10 years of manufacturing industry experience to MCC. Knight received his Bachelors of Business Administration in General Business and his Masters of Science in Workforce Education Leadership from Mississippi State University.
He is an active member of Antioch Baptist Church where he serves as a deacon, teaches discipleship training and is a member of the choir and youth committee. He is actively involved in his community serving on the Philadelphia Center for Pregnancy Choices and the Collinsville Bass Club.
He and his wife, Lisa, have a 14-year-old son, Jeff.
The MCC Community and Business Development office, located in Webb Hall on the MCC Campus, is Lauderdale County’s premier workforce, career/business development and continuing education source, according to a press release.
The office administers Workforce Development, Adult Basic Education/ GED Preparation, Continuing Education, Career Development, Entrepreneurship programs and the East Mississippi Development Corporation. Their commitment is to both individual enhancement and business development through affordable and customized programs.
