OXFORD — In tune with the approaching holiday season, the University of Mississippi Museum has released a unique collectible, its seventh in a series.

The limited edition keepsake depicts Rowan Oak, the historic home of Nobel Prize-winning author William Faulkner. Stamped and gold-plated, the collectible can be purchased at the museum’s gift shop for $15 plus tax or shipped for an additional $5.

“It’s one of our biggest sellers throughout the holiday season,” said Albert Sperath, museum director. “A lot of folks buy the collectible keepsakes as gifts or for themselves to adorn their Christmas trees at home.”

Rowan Oak, located near the UM campus, was purchased by Faulkner in 1930. Owned by the university, the home serves as a museum and includes Faulkner’s own furniture, smoking pipe and typewriter.

The museum’s previously released collectibles feature the university’s Lyceum, Ventress Hall, Barnard Observatory, Brandt Memory House and Skipwith House, as well as the Lafayette County Courthouse. Complete sets of the keepsakes’ entire series are also available.

Profits from the sales are funneled back into the museum’s general account.

The gift shop is open during regular museum hours 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1-4 p.m. Sunday.
