A family picnic highlighted the July meeting of the Collinsville Community Development Club.

After welcoming everyone, A.J. Wedgeworth, president, led the Pledge of Allegiance. He also presented an inspirational thought, noting that if people would love one another, got along and showed each other respect, the world would be a better a place.

After Wedgeworth led prayer, club families were treated to finger foods and several varieties of homemade ice cream. Family members engaged in a time of fellowship that included everyone catching up on news in the community and elsewhere.

Supplies were brought to the club house for delivery to Care Lodge, and plastic shopping bags were brought to donate to Hope Village Thrift Store.

Members were urged to bring magazines and newspapers to the August meeting. The items will be delivered to waiting rooms and veterinarian offices.

Yard of the Month honors went to: Jimmie and Glenda Rowell, first place; Jerry Ethridge, second place; and Joe and Jill Williams, third place.

The Serving Committee for July was Sandra Edwards, June Gibson, Judy Harwell and Jill Williams.

The club's next meeting is Aug. 15.
