An Oxford man has been charged with assaulting a DeSoto County Sheriff's K-9 officer and his dog during a traffic stop.
The Commercial Appeal reports Christopher Conyers was charged Wednesday with simple assault on a police officer, attempt to commit an offense, following too closely and injury or killing of a public service animal.
Conyers remains in the DeSoto County Jail. His bond has been set at $40,250 on all charges.
Authorities say when Conyers was pulled over on a traffic stop Tuesday, a confrontation occurred between him and the deputy, whose name has not been released.
