MERIDIAN —

    Tara Leigh Smith and Marcus Tyler Smith were united in marriage on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Cathedral Assembly of God with the Rev. Jerry Johnson officiating.

    Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Douglas Smith. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Mark Alan Smith of Long Beach.

    Grandparents of the bride are Mrs. Eloise Davidson and the late Walter Earl Davidson, and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Ray Powell, both of Meridian.

    Grandparents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Lenon Smith of Long Beach, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Glenn Weems of Biloxi.

    Music for the ceremony was provided by Barry Germany, pianist/organist. Instrumentalists were Jerald Bailey, trumpeter; Gail Fox, violinist; Romina Monsanto, cellist; Debbie Young, flutist. Vocalists were Brian Hamrick of New Orleans, La., and Megan Sheets of Long Beach.

    Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a designer strapless ball gown of natural raw silk, fashioned with a slight scoop neckline and closed in the back with covered buttons. A wide pearl and Swarovski crystal-beaded embellishment was featured around the fitted waistline, with a chapel-length train featuring lace, pearl and matching beading, and a scallop edge around the bottom of the gown and train.

    Her blusher veil was edged with crystals. The bride wore a garter created from the cuff of her mother’s wedding gown. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of white roses, hydrangeas, tulips and peonies embellished with pearls and wrapped in candlelight ribbon. Attached was her maternal grandfather’s wedding band.

    Renee Christen Reeves of Starkville served as maid of honor. Keri Henley Hindman of Fayette, Ala., served as matron of honor.

    Additional attendants were Jessica Lynn Porter and Megan Wassner Artz, both of Starkville, and Kate Maureen Jensen of New Orleans.

    Stefanie Taylor Christy of Hernando served as honorary bridesmaid and Scripture reader.

    Austyn Ava Ladd of Nolensville, Tenn., served as flower girl.

    Brandon Alan Smith of Memphis, Tenn., brother of the bridegroom, served as best man.

    Other groomsmen were Joshua David Smith of Meridian, brother of the bride, Jeremy Grant Brooks of Kittery, Mass., Daniel Thomas Ladd of Nolensville and Michael Winfield Lahuta of Long Beach.

    Directing the wedding was Kathy Robinson.

    Registry attendant was Tonya Renee Carroll of Hattiesburg. Program attendant was Marla Fayette Terry of Starkville.

    Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a dinner reception at Northwood Country Club. Rhythms Band of Birmingham provided music.

    On Friday, April 29, bridesmaids and special guests were honored with a luncheon at the home of Jan Robinson. On the eve of the wedding, the bridegroom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Weidmann’s Restaurant for the wedding party.

    After a honeymoon in St. Lucia, the couple resides in Birmingham, Ala.
