Ruth Marie Proctor and Ian Cooper McGavin Edwards, both of Richmond, Va., were married Saturday, June 9, 2012, on the front lawn of the Hanover Arts and Activities Center in Ashland, Va., with the Rev. David Vaughan officiating.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. R. Daniel Proctor, Ms. Debra Ann Cooper Wardell and Mr. David Clay Edwards, all of Knoxville, Tenn.
Grandparents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Austin Smith Jr. of Quitman, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Franklin Proctor of Scottsboro, Ala.
Grandparents of the bridegroom are Mrs. Carl E. Cooper and the late Mr. Cooper of Knoxville.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Nathan Mills, classical guitarist.
The bride was escorted by her father, R. Daniel Proctor, and given in marriage by her parents. She wore a strapless, floor-length ivory silk chiffon gown with a twisted bodice, softly pleated empire waistline, and flowing sash tied at the back.
Maid of honor was Rebecca Proctor of Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Groomsmen and ushers were Jeremey Bright and Shea Owens, both of Knoxville, and John Charles Schneider and Gerhard Stiene, both of Richmond.
A reception was held inside the Hanover Arts and Activities Center following the ceremony. The bride’s uncle, Phil Proctor of Mobile, Ala., entertained with guitar and song.
The couple resides in Richmond.
