Emily Carolyn Abney and Justin Joseph Anders, both of Meridian, were married Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at Central United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Rambo officiating.
Parents of the couple are Dr. and Mrs. Richard Samuel Abney, and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wayne Anders, all of Meridian.
Grandparents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Donald William McCormick of Birmingham, Ala., and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Washington Abney of Bay Springs.
Grandparents of the bridegroom are Mrs. Lloyd Bernard Griffin and the late Lloyd Bernard Griffin of Brandon, the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gwaltney of Meridian, and the late Mr. and Mrs. M.R. “Bilbo” Anders of Meridian.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Joyce Tillery, organist; and, Barry Germany, pianist.
The bride was given in marriage by her father.
She wore a custom silk taffeta, off the shoulder and ruched wrapover a-line gown with a beaded lace border around entire chapel length hem of the train from Carriage House Weddings, designed by Augusta Jones. Her custom chapel length veil was made of silk tulle and a re-embroidered French Alencon lace beginning at her fingertips and continued around the chapel length border of the veil. She wore a floating opal on a gold chain that belonged to her grandmother. She carried a bouquet of while miniature calla lilies, white freesia, white tulips, seeded eucalyptus, and white roses, collared with green hydrangea. The bouquet was gathered and hand tied with white French ribbon.
Maid of honor was Jennifer Marie Oye of Bluffton, S.C.
Matron of honor was Kristen Ramsey Hefner of Birmingham, Ala.
Bridesmaids were Rosemary Kozel Powell of Stephenson, Va., and Holley Garrard Speed of Meridian.
Joseph Wayne Anders of Meridian was best man.
Groomsmen and ushers were Kevin Wayne Anders of Meridian, Duncan Brookshire Vise of San Antonio, Texas, Gregory Lee Wright of Louisville, William Richard Abney of Meridian, Michael Jeremiah Hill of Meridian, and Raiford Newell Long III of Meridian.
Acolytes were Paxton Joseph Anders and Avery James Anders.
Program attendants were Mary Margaret Freeman and Katherine Elizabeth Freeman.
A reception was held at the historic Mississippi Industrial Heritage Museum at Soule Steam Feed Works in downtown Meridian following the ceremony.
After a honeymoon in the Bahamas, the couple resides in Meridian.
