Murphy, Leming

MERIDIAN —     Mary Katherine Leming and Joshua Lee Murphy were united in marriage Saturday, June 9, 2012, at 6 p.m., at Paris-Yates Chapel, on the campus of The University of Mississippi. The Rev. Daniel Herring conducted the evening ceremony.

    The bride is the daughter of D.P. and Joy Hawkins of Pearl. She is the granddaughter of Frank and Joy Newby of Pascagoula, the late E.M. and Dorothy Hawkins of Forest and Don and Clara Ware of Winona.  

    The bridegroom is the son of Jerry and Shirley Murphy of Meridian. He is the grandson of the late James and Arlies Savell of Decatur and Lou Murphy and the late James Murphy of Meridian.

    Given in marriage by her mother and father, the bride wore a designer ruched bodice strapless gown with a beaded top overlay. For her headpiece, she wore a Swarovski crystal and pearl-trimmed cathedral-length veil.

    Nuptial music was provided by Laura Lowell Brown, vocalist, and Steven Taranto, organist.  

    Attending the bride were Lana Christine Crawford, maid of honor, and Melissa Marie Perry, matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Ashleigh Nicole Elkins, Laura Lynn Marion, Julie Elizabeth Clark and Libera Sarah Garrett.

    Clara Elizabeth Ware was flower girl. Peyton James McDaniel and Julian Ellis Williams were the ringbearers.  

    Best man was James Andrew Murphy, brother of the bridegroom. Groomsmen were Cody Lee Savell, Jason Allen McCain, Hunter Meyer Vaughn, Andrew Louis Polizzi and Matthew Shannon Hedrick.  

    Carl Jarrod Baxter, Michael Patrick Hennessey, James Wilson Robinson and Donald Walker Ware II served as ushers.  

    Jessica Hall Boler presented scripture readings during the ceremony.

    Donna McCommon of Ridgeland served as wedding and reception director.

    A reception, hosted by the bride’s parents, was held at The Inn at Ole Miss. The Carlton South Carolina Show Band of Jackson entertained guests.

    On the eve of the wedding a bridesmaid’s luncheon was given by Clara Ware, Miriam Ware, and Cis Bordelon at the Vance House in Carrollton.  

    A rehearsal supper, hosted by the bridegroom’s parents, was held at Taylor Grocery in Taylor. The supper followed a tour of the historic Oxford Square on a double-decker bus.

    The bride graduated from The University of Mississippi and is employed by the North Panola School District as a first grade teacher.  

    The bridegroom graduated from East Central Community College and is employed by Caterpillar HPE as a machinist.  

    After a honeymoon trip to the Dutch Caribbean island of Bonaire, the couple resides in Oxford.
