Butler, Powell
Sondra Renée Powell of Meridian and William Henry Butler of Macon were married on Saturday, July 21, 2007, at Highland Baptist Church with the Rev. Franklin Denham officiating.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. George N. Powell of Meridian and Mr. and Mrs. William H. Butler of Brooksville.
Grandparents of the bride are the late Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert B. Powell of Meridian and the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis “Jo” Bailey Sr. of Meridian.
Grandparents of the bridegroom are Pauline Butler of Columbus and the late Eugene Butler of Brooksville and Elizabeth Wright of Brooksville and the late Henry L. Wright.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Greer Goldman, organist, Suzette Landrum, pianist; Nikki Holifield, sister of the bride, vocalist; and Ben Butler, brother of the bridegroom, guitarist and vocalist. The Rev. Gil Powell, cousin of the bride, led the scripture reading and a hymn of praise.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a strapless silk gown in pearl. The fitted bodice featured delicate embellishments of crystals and bugle beading. The shirred empire band complemented a lace-up back. The full chiffon skirt cascaded into a chapel-length train.
Matron of honor was Nikki Holifield of West Point, sister of the bride.
Best man was the bridegroom’s father.
Ushers were Tommy Holifield, of West Point, Scottie Mayatt of Meridian, Robbie Taylor of Crawford, Russell Mord of Sturgis and Peyton Smith of Germantown, Tenn.
Guest attendant was Gloria Mayatt and program attendant was Amanda Harpole-Snowden.
A reception was held in the Tea Room at the church following the ceremony.
Assisting at the reception were Melissa Butler, Kristy Taylor, Tricia Morris and Steven LaBiche.
After a honeymoon in Rome and Venice, Italy, the couple resides in Macon.
