Young, McDill
Brad Walter Young and Ashley Lynn McDill were married on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at 4 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Canton with the Rev. David Elliott officiating. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Layne McDill of Decatur and the late Mr. and Mrs. Gene Harlow Young of Cleveland.
The bride is the granddaughter of Mrs. Thomas William Reeves and the late Mr. Reeves, and Mrs. Roy Dean McDill and the late Mr. McDill, all of Decatur.
The bridegroom is the grandson the late Mr. and Mrs. Burl Aultman of Seminary, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Smythe Walter Young of Carthage.
Nuptial music was provided by Gail McKay, organist, and Susan Moak, vocalist. Andrew Bell read scripture. Anna Hale served as the bride’s proxy. Program attendants were Whitney Amis and Mae Thornton.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of ivory silk shantung fashioned with a sculptured strapless neckline and shirred bodice closed in the back with covered buttons. The bodice extended into a molded dropped waistline that fell into the flaired gorded skirt and chapel-length train. The veil, also worn by the bride’s long time friend, Katie Lofton Wallace, fell to a fingertip-length. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of red roses.
Serving as maid of honor was the bride’s sister, Kery Layne McDill of Decatur.
Bridesmaids were Joy Poole Davis, Bethany Boone McNease, and Jamie Lynn Walker, all of Hattiesburg; Katie Lynne Hinkle of Brandon; Katie Lofton Wallace of Jackson; and Shay Singley Grice of San Marcos, Texas.
Serving as flower girls were Lexie Rae Gibson of Newton, Macy Beth Hale of Decatur and Landry Elizabeth LeBlanc of Forest, cousins of the bride.
Bland Eugene Young of Jackson served his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Robert Daniel Perrett and William Darby Shook, both of Brandon; Joseph Owen Everett of New Albany; Michael Nathaniel Dean of Water Valley; Gerald Melvin Robertson of Madison; and Lucas Eugene O’Neill of Oxford, nephew of the bridegroom.
Griffin Elliott O’Neill of Oxford, nephew of the bridegroom, served as ring bearer.
A reception was held immediately following the ceremony at the Jiggett Home in Canton.
After a honeymoon cruise to the Eastern Caribbean, the couple is at home in Madison.
