Newell, Spedero

Michelle Spedero and Richard L. Newell Jr., both of Meridian, were married on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at Briarwood Country Club with the Rev. Dr. Raymond Leake officiating.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Gary Davison, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Jenkins, Irene Newell and the late Richard L. Newell Sr.

Grandparents of the bride are Evelyn Sauls and the late Jerome Sauls and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ray Jenkins Sr.

Grandparents of the bridegroom are the late Mr. and Mrs. Ebbie Newell and the late Mr. and Mrs. Luther Manasco.

Music for the ceremony was provided by Tyler Torgersen, violinist.

The bride chose an ivory gown of silky chiffon with beaded tulle. Crystal beads were scattered onto the strapless empire bodice with a vertically shirred tulle overlay. The slim fit and flared gown featured asymmetrical draping and a chapel-length train.

Maid of honor was Stacy Kittrell of San Diego, Calif. and matron of honor was Melinda McDaniel of Meridian. Other attendants were Wendy Shirley of Birmingham, Ala., Emiley Anderson of Detroit, Mich., Alexa Self, Lisa Powell and Shanna Flynt of Meridian.

Olivia Newell of Meridian and Taylor Anderson of Detroit were flower girls.

Cody Spedero of Meridian was best man. Groomsmen were Jeff Newell, Gary Newell, Gary Davison, Mark Lindley, Alan McDaniel and Dalton Newell of Meridian. Ushers were Troy Shirley of Birmingham and Daniel Self of Meridian.

Rice bag attendants were Star Sullins, Brinnon Powell, Ally Self and Elizabeth Self. Registry attendant was Ashlyn Newell.

A reception was held at Briarwood Country Club following the ceremony. Music was provided by Luv Undercover.

After a honeymoon in Cancun, Mexico, the couple resides in Meridian.
