• 7 a.m. - 2 p.m. — Make-A-Wish Garage Sale will be held at 10165 Lynwood Drive in the Tanglewood Subdivision off of Highway 19 North. All proceeds go to granting wishes in our area. Call Brenda at (601) 483-8144.

• 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. — The Newton County Career Center, Family Career Community Leaders of America, 15935 Highway 15 North in Decatur, will be selling mums for $5 each. Call (601) 635-4138.

• 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. — Donations may be made for the evacuees of Hurricane Gustav may be made to Mustard Tree Bargain Center in conjunction with the American Red Cross. The bargain center's location is 3918 8th Street. Items needed are non-perishable food, bottled water, blankets and bedding, towels, hygiene products, toiletries, diapers, baby bottles and powdered formula. Saturday, Sept. 6

• If you are interested in taking gourd craft classes on Sept. 19th and 20th at the annual gourd festival held in the Martin community, contact Ray Davis at 601-737-5333.
