Today

• Registration begins today and continues through May 23 for the Young Adult Summer Reading Program at the Meridian-Lauderdale County Public Library. The program is free for students in grades seven through 12. Visit the Web site at www.meridian.lib.ms.us to print a registration form or visit the library. Every student that registers will be entered into a drawing for a MP3 player. Call Ella Winford at (601) 693-6771 ext. 221.

• Noon — Women's Christian Support Group for those whose loved ones suffer with alcohol and drug problems will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 905 23rd Avenue. Call Charlie at (601) 483-5927.

• 12:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. — Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 3753 19th St. Call (601) 482-2498 or the 24 hour info/hotline at (601) 527-6669.

• 1 p.m. — The Queen City Duplicate Bridge Club will meet at 1 p.m. at the Meridian Activity Center, 3300 32nd Avenue. All duplicate bridge players are welcome.

• 5 p.m.- 6:15 p.m. —Take Pounds Off Sensibly (TOPS) a non-profit weight loss support group will meet in the Health and Fitness Auditorium at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. Call Nancy at (601)527-2924.



Tuesday, May 13

• Noon — The Meridian Police Department will hold a special ceremony in honor of the police officers who have died in the line of duty. The Law Enforcement Officers' Memorial Day service will be held at the Doughboy Monument on 23rd Avenue in downtown. The public is invited to attend to honor those who have died in the line of duty and to show their support for all local law enforcement officers.

• 12:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. — Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 3753 19th St. Call (601) 482-2498 or the 24 hour info/hotline at (601) 527-6669.

• 1 p.m. — The Meridian Duplicate Bridge Club meets at the Meridian Activity Center, 3300 32nd Avenue. This is an open game and everyone is welcome. Call Tommie at (601) 679-8466 or Josie at (601)483-5884.

• 1 p.m. — Older American Month Bowling Tournament will be held at the Dixie Bowl Lanes. Call (601)483-2283.

• 6 p.m.- 7:30 p.m. — National Alliance on Mental Illness Connection support group will meet at College Park United Methodist Church, 1103 Highway 19 North. For more information call Gaynell Coleman at (601)693-4991.

• 7:30 p.m. — Andrew Chapel Masonic Lodge No. 151 will meet in a stated communication at the lodge building located at 9198 Hillview Drive. Call (601)681-8369.



Wednesday, May 14

• 5:45 p.m. — The Lauderdale County Country Dancers will meet at the Northeast Community Center on Briarwood Road, next to Northeast Lauderdale High School. Clogging will be taught at 5:45 p.m.; line dancing at 6:45 p.m. and a beginner class of square dancing at 7:30 p.m. All ages are welcome. Call Carol Hosch at (601)483-7016.

• 7 p.m. — The International Singing Brakeman Association will meet at the Best Western Hospitality Room on Frontage Road. Bring a dish to share and admission is $2. Call Glyn Jones at (601)581-1601.

• 7:15 p.m. — Gamblers Anonymous will meet at the Highland Baptist Church parsonage, 3400 27th Street. Call David at (601)938-9193.
