Today

• 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. — The AARP 55 Alive Driver Safety Program, for persons 50 years old and older, will be held at the Enterprise Town Hall, 500 River Road, Cost is $10. The course will qualify citizens for a multi-year automobile insurance discount by some insurance companies. The course is taught by Charles Davis of Quitman.

• 9 a.m.-1 p.m. — AARP Tax-Aide volunteers will E-file taxes for free for low and middle income taxpayers. This service is available at the Salvation Army Activity Center, 120 Sixth Ave. (B Street and 6th Avenue) Please bring a copy of 2006 tax return, picture ID, and Social Security Cards for all family members. • Noon - 1 p.m. — National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) will hold its regular meeting at Weems Community Mental Health Center, 1415 College Drive in Meridian. Thursday, March 6

Bring copy of 2006 tax return, 2007 tax forms, picture ID, Social Security cards for each family member. First come, first serve. Ca (601) 692-2758.

• 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. — Barbecue plates will be on sale for $6 each plate at the East Mississippi Electric Power Association, 2128 Highway 39 North. Tickets may be purchased at the front desk or from any team member. All proceeds will benefit Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society. EMEPA will deliver for 10 or more plates purchased. • Noon - 1 p.m. — Make-A-Wish Volunteer meeting will be held at Rush Foundation Hospital, sixth floor conference room. Lunch will be provided. Final plans for Walk For Wishes to be held April 5 at Bonita Lakes will be discussed. Call Brenda at (601)483-8144.

• 5:45 p.m.- 9 p.m. —The Lauderdale County Country Dancers will offer dance lessons for all ages, clogging at 5:45 p.m., Line dancing at 6:45 p.m., and Square dancing at 7:30 p.m., at the Northeast Community Center on Briarwood Road. Call Carol Hosch at (601)483-7016.

• 6 p.m.- 7:30 p.m. — A free seminar entitled: "How to Talk to Children and Adolescents About Difficult Topics" will be held at Lamar School, 544 Lindley Road. Pre-registration is not required. • 6 p.m. — The Meridian Chapter of Mississippi Valley State University Alumni Association will meet at the Council of Organization building, 814 45th Avenue. All alumni in the surrounding area are asked to attend. Call (601) 483-6475 or (601) 681-6391.

• 6:30 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. — Young Professionals of Meridian will host a Bowl Benefit to aid the Keeping Kids Engaged in the Arts After School. The benefit will be held at Weidmann's Restaurant and include soup, bread and a hand made bowl (to keep). Cost is $20 and may be obtained at Deli on 5th and The Daily Grind, or call Heather Goodwin at (601)486-1093 or Stacy McInnis at (601)693-0960.

• 6:30 p.m. — The American Legion Post No. 125 will hold their monthly meeting at the Dick McWilliams American Legion Post building, 6420 5th Street. Pot luck dinner served. All veterans welcome. Call Roy Pete at (601)986-5545.
