ABERDEEN, Miss. —

Federal court records say a man plans to appeal his conviction and sentence on a charge of failing to register as a sex offender.

J.D. Bell was charged with failing to update his registration from February 2011 to September 2011. He allegedly failed to update his registration while moving to and from land belonging to the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.

He pleaded guilty in July. He was sentenced to two years on Nov. 16.

Bell was first required to register on a 2002 conviction of sexual assault by use of threat or force.
