Shannon man dies after Pontotoc Co. wreck

PONTOTOC, Miss. —

A 32-year-old Shannon man died after sustaining critical injuries in a single vehicle accident in Pontotoc County.

Highway Patrol Trooper Jason Roe tells the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal Charles Ethridge was driving east on Highway 342 Tuesday when he ran off the roadway and then overcorrected.

When he overcorrected, Roe says the vehicle rolled, ejecting him.

A 14-year-old passenger was able to crawl out of the window while the vehicle was rolling.

Ethridge was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis with critical injuries and died from those injuries around a short time later.
