Ex-Amite jailer charged in inmate sex case

LIBERTY, Miss. — A former Amite County jailer has been arrested for allegedly having sex with an inmate and on child pornography charges.

Amite County Sheriff Tim Wroten tells the Enterprise-Journal 41-year-old Milton Griffin, of Liberty, is free after posting a $30,000 bond. Wroten says the alleged crimes happened earlier this year.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation.

An MBI investigator declined Monday to give specifics about the case.

Griffin was arrested on Friday.

It was unclear whether he has an attorney.
