LOUISVILLE, Miss. —
A former Nanih Waiya school employee has been charged with embezzlement.
State Auditor Stacey Pickering says in a news release that Lori Young surrendered this past week to the Winston County Sheriff's Office.
He says Young was indicted on one count of embezzlement for allegedly taking $15,833.
Pickering says Young was served a demand for $28,917 which included investigative costs, interest, and other costs of recovery.
The indictment alleges Young took money from the Nanih Waiya Attendance Center by not depositing all of the funds that had been given to her by teachers and club sponsors and altering cash sheet records to cover the stolen cash.
Young served as the Nanih Waiya school secretary from January of 2006 to March of 2010.
