Officer dragged; woman arrested

Associated Press

TUPELO, Miss. — A 28-year-old woman has been charged with aggravated assault on a police officer and accused of dragging him using a car.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports Reegan Blunt is charged in the incident that took place early Thursday morning.

Tupelo police say their units were serving as backup to a Mississippi Highway Patrol unit pursuing a vehicle that was failing to yield.

Police say a Tupelo officer, during the stop attempt, was dragged by the vehicle, driven by Blunt, about 20 yards.

The officer was not injured and did not require medical attention.

It was unclear whether Blunt has an attorney.
