Parole denied woman convicted in child's death

VICKSBURG, Miss. —

Lisa Ameen Crevitt, who admitted taking LSD and tossing her toddler into a river canal, has been denied parole.

The Vicksburg Post reports that the state Parole Board reviewed Crevitt's case on March 20. It denied her bid for parole.

Lisa Crevitt has now been denied parole five times since 1995. She is serving her life sentence at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Rankin County.

Lisa Crevitt was sentenced to life in prison in 1985 for the murder of her 2 1/2-year-old daughter, Nikki. She had claimed the girl was abducted May 16, 1985, from a store in Vicksburg.

Prosecutors said she threw the girl into the Sunflower Diversion Canal about 12 miles north of Vicksburg. The child's body was found three days after she was reported missing.
