Man admits conspiracy to kill ex-girlfriend

GULFPORT, Miss. —

A Harrison County jury was seated and waiting for trial when 41-year-old Daniel Boone Magee of Collins decided to plead guilty to conspiring to kill his former girlfriend.

The Sun Herald reports Circuit Judge Larry Bourgeois accepted Magee's plea on Tuesday and said he would sentence Magee on Monday.

Gulfport police arrested Magee in Wiggins on June 27, 2011, after receiving a tip he had hatched a plot to have his ex-girlfriend kidnapped and delivered to him in the trunk of a car in Wiggins.

The woman had been living with Magee in Collins but had moved to Gulfport, where the supposed co-conspirator reported Magee's plan to police.

The maximum penalty for conspiracy to commit murder is 20 years.
