The Meridian Star
Meridian High School senior Torloff Thomas was named to the Mississippi/ Alabama All-Star game on Thursday. The game, featuring seniors from Alabama and Mississippi, will be played on March 15 in Montgomery, Ala.
“Thomas is a kid who moved in from Alabama and was a work in progress,” Meridian boys basketball head coach Randy Bolden said. “Since he arrived, he has gotten better each day.”
Thomas was Meridian's leading three-point shooter, giving the Wildcats a deadly weapon from beyond the arch.
“I think the sky is the limit for Tee (Thomas),” Bolden said. “I think his best basketball is ahead of him if he continues to work hard. I think, as he gets stronger, he definitely has the opportunity to perform at the next level.”
Bolden said the opportunity to play with the states best players will not only help to get Thomas noticed, but allow him to better his game.
“First of all it's a great accomplishment to be able to represent your state,” Bolden said. “Also, it is a platform for exposure. People will get to see him compete against a lot of other good basketball players and get to see how good he really is.”
Thomas has yet to decide where he will attend school in the fall, but plans to continue his playing career in college.
