Roundup: Meridian stays perfect, beats NW Rankin, 11-7

MERIDIAN — The Meridian softball team remained perfect in district play, defeating Northwest Rankin 11-7 Tuesday night.

    Amber Carter, Alleijah Echols and Regina Warren all had two runs batted in for the Wildcats.

    Angel Spencer, Nika Hopkins, Carlissa Hopkins and Dayja Johnson also had big nights, each tallying a double. Brianna Grace also had a single and an RBI.

    Meridian moves to 7-5 (4-0) with the win and will host Brandon at Northeast Park Thursday night.

Clarkdale takes two in sweep of Northeast

The Clarkdale softball team swept Northeast Lauderdale in a doubleheader Tuesday night, beating the Trojans 6-3 in Game 1 and 6-4 in Game 2.

    Molly McCloud had a huge night at the plate, going a combined five-for-six with six runs batted in including a double. Her sister, Ashley McCloud was just as impressive. going four-for-seven with an RBI and a triple in the two games combined.

    Alex Riser had a hit and an RBI in Game 1, while Meredith Hunt added a hit and two RBIs in Game 2.

    Clarkdale moves to 6-8 after the two wins.
