Prep roundups: Clarkdale softball blanks Scott Central, 16-0

Clarkdale High School had four hitters with multiple hits as the Lady Bulldogs blanked Scott Central High School, 16-0, in Tuesday night softball action.

Heather Harwell got the win for Clarkdale, pitching all five innings and surrendering just two hits and two walks while striking out five. She was also 2-for-5 with a triple at the plate.

MaKayla Roberts also went 2-for-5 with a triple on offense, and Alex Riser finished 3-for-5. Aubree McWilliams was 2-for-5 with a double, and Molly McLeod tallied four RBIs.

Clarkdale (8-6) will host Enterprise High School Thursday.


Nettleton High School swept Kemper County High School, 21-0 and 26-0, in two games Tuesday.

A-Tea Watson took the loss in both games. She fanned five batters in one inning of work in Game 1, and she surrendered 16 walks in one inning of work in Game 2.

Kemper County (2-3) will host South Tomahawk High School Thursday.


Abby Bates hit a walk-off grand slam to win the game for West Lauderdale High School against Houston High School Tuesday.

Ana Gilbert was the winning pitcher. No other information, including a final score, could be provided about the game.

The Lady Knights are undefeated in district play and will go up against Caledonia High School Thursday.



Nathan Ross pitched five innings of one-run ball as Southeast Lauderdale High School blew past Choctaw Central Tuesday night.

Ross surrendered one run on one hit while fanning six and walking three. He also went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double.

Gage Hagan and James Gibson were both 2-for-4 at the plate, and Mason Irby finished 3-for-4 with a double. Brett Carney went 2-for-4, and Gage Ramey tallied a double.

Southeast (9-6, 5-0) will play at Forest High School Friday.



Colton McKeithen struck out 11 of 16 batters he faced to get the win as West Lauderdale High School shut out Noxubee County High School Tuesday evening.

McKeithen surrendered no hits and just one walk in five innings of work, and the Knights tallied 10 RBIs on 13 hits at the plate.

Daniel Hill and Mason Wooldridge both had two hits, and Reed Michel had three hits, including a triple. Fred Franlion had a double and triple.

The Knights (16-0) will host Noxubee County at 5 p.m. Friday.
