Clarkdale earns split

MERIDIAN — Clarkdale High School split a Wednesday doubleheader at the Rush Invitational, beating Raleigh High School, 12-0, while falling to Nanih Waiya High School, 4-1.

In Game 1, starter Levi Wedgworth had a five-inning no-hitter, surrendering just two walks and striking out six for Clarkdale.

Dawson Ivey was 2-for-3 against Raleigh, while Brandon Martin finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Blake Fuller also had three RBIs for Clarkdale.

In Game 2, Parker Chaney took the loss for the Bulldogs despite a strong performance on the mound. He went six innings, surrendering two runs — one earned — on two hits. He also struck out five and issued two walks.

Nick Perry accounted for Clarkdale’s sole RBI against Nanih Waiya. No one for the Bulldogs had an extra-base hit or multiple hits.

The Bulldogs (4-3) will open conference play Tuesday at Scott Central High School.
