Meridian CC set to host Northwest Florida State

MERIDIAN — The Meridian Community College baseball team will return to Scaggs Field this weekend to open a five-game home stand. The Eagles are seeking to bounce back from its recent four-game losing streak.

MCC will host Northwest Florida Friday night at Scaggs Field with a single nine-inning game at 6 p.m. and Saturday afternoon the Eagles have announced a major change to the schedule.

MCC was originally set to host Marion Military Institute and East Mississippi Community College Saturday, but due to a scheduling conflict, Marion Military will not be traveling to Meridian for its scheduled game with the Eagles. MCC will now host East Mississippi Community College in a doubleheader Saturday afternoon

beginning at 2 p.m.

The two teams met last Tuesday (February 25) in a doubleheader at Gerald Poole Field where MCC came away with a doubleheader split (8-3, 0-3) with the Lions. MCC will close out its five-game home stand with a pair of games during Spring Break next

week. The Eagles will host Southeast Iowa for a two-game series that will begin March 13 with a single game at 6 p.m. and another that is slated for March 14 at 1 p.m.

The Eagles are currently 8-9 on the season after losing to Marion Military Institute earlier in the week on the road by a final score of 9-6.
