The David versus Goliath matchup at Grey Cobb field Friday night did not follow the original storyline as powerhouse Jackson Prep handed the previously undefeated Lamar Raiders their first loss of the season 41-13.
The Patriots scored first on an interception in the backfield thrown by freshman quarterback Davis Harrison. The Raiders were quick to answer with a 90-yard drive ending in a 20-yard touchdown pass from Harrison to senior wideout Lee Martin.
After another Patriot touchdown, the Raiders scored again with two minutes left in the half on a 37-yard Harrison pass to junior wideout JD Roberts. The PAT attempt was no good and the Raiders went to halftime trailing 14-13.
Prep opened the second half with a touchdown with 8:44 left in the third and scored again on a fumble recovery in the end zone.
Lamar could not regain their offensive momentum as the Patriot defense came alive forcing another Raider fumble in the fourth quarter.
With less than two minutes left in the game Prep would score again. The PAT was no good.
Lamar celebrates homecoming next week against Northeast Lauderdale.
