The Meridian Community College golf team shot the low round of the day to complete the final round of the Wallace State Invitational in Cullman, AL to move up three places.
Led by freshman Connor Cavin, the Eagles shot a ten under 278 in the final round which was one better than team champion and defending Division I National Champion Central Alabama.
Cavin tied a school record (Easton Key, Jake Stirling) by shooting a seven under 65. Close behind Cavin was fellow freshman Austin Terrell who shot 69.
Other scores for the last day were sophomore Dallas Shepard (70), freshman Holden Singletary (74) and freshman Ty Medling (77).
The Eagles finished sixth, but were the top Division II team which included two other Mississippi teams. Central Alabama won the tournament with The host team Wallace State finishing second.
The Eagles will be the host team for their next tournament, the annual Jim Redgate Invitational, on September 30- Oct 1 at Briarwood Country Club.
