East Central still winless in ‘13

MERIDIAN —     The East Central Community College Warriors fell on the road to Southwest Mississippi Community College, 24-7, on Thursday night, despite getting on the board first.

    Donnie Farmer and Tyler Pace connected for a three-yard score with 9:47 left in the first quarter, 7-0.

    Southwest Mississippi retaliated six minutes later when De'Angelo Ballard punched in a 1-yard score with 3:45 on the clock.

    In the second quarter, Southwest Mississippi pushed its lead with a 43-yard field goal off the foot of Michael McDaniel.

    Ballard ran in Southwest's second touchdown of the night from 26-yards out with 12:25 left in the third quarter for a 17-7 lead. Jamal Haul capped Bears scoring with a 30-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.

    The Warriors were led by Lamarcus Franks with 15 carries for 52 yards. Farmer finished the night 12-of-24 for 128 yards and 1 touchdown and 1 interception.

    Next Thursday, East Central will travel to Hinds Community
