Prep roundups: Southeast softball defeats Lake, 7-4

MERIDIAN — Shakira Shoemaker went 2-for-4, including a three-run home run, for Southeast Lauderdale High School as the Lady Tigers beat Lake High School, 7-4, in Saturday evening softball action.

    Lauren Yager went 3-for-4 at the plate for Southeast, and she was also the winning pitcher. In seven innings of work, she had five strikeouts and gave up four runs on four hits.

    Katelyn Harper had a double and two RBIs for the Lady Tigers.

    Southeast (9-4) will play at Choctaw Central High School Thursday.


    Clarkdale High School defeated Newton High school, 14-2, in five innings and Philadelphia High School, 6-2, in Saturday baseball action.

    Against Newton, Parker Chaney got the win, going five innings and giving up just one hit and one walk while striking out five.

    Levi Wedgeworth had a three-run home run for Clarkdale.

    Against Philadelphia, Clarkdale's Easton Rainer went six innings to get the win. He gave up two runs on six hits with one walk and four strikeouts.

Nick Perry had a double for Clarkdale against Philadelphia, and Dylan Reeves finished 2-for-3.

    Clarkdale (9-8, 4-2) will play at Union High School Tuesday.
