MERIDIAN —     East Central Community Central went into Thursday night’s home finale at Bailey Stadium with plenty to play for. The Warriors could equal their most wins since 2008 and still had a chance for the program’s first winning season since 2001.

However, Pearl River Community College used a big second quarter to seize control and end those hopes, handing ECCC a 37-7 defeat. The Warriors, who fell to 3-5 overall and 2-3 in the MACJC South Division, end the season Oct. 27 at Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Following a scoreless first quarter, the Wildcats, who improved to 3-5 and 2-3 in the South, pulled away in the second. There, Dylan Favre threw a touchdown pass to Kris Riley less than three minutes into the period and PRCC led for good.

Six minutes later, PRCC added a touchdown pass from Darius Holder to Akeem Pollard and Mike Allizzo added a 31-yard field goal to make it 17-0 at the break.

East Central answered immediately out of the locker room as Martin Johnson scored from 75 yards away just 13 seconds into the third quarter to pull the Warriors within 17-7.

But it was all Wildcats from there. Favre, the nephew of former NFL star Brett Favre, scored on a 51-yard run with 10:49 left in the third. Cheeto Johnson’s 9-yard touchdown made it 31-7 heading to the fourth.

Allizzo hit a 30-yard field foal and Brandon King connected on a 35-yard field goal in the final stanza for PRCC.
