The Quitman boys basketball team’s season came to an end Thursday night, as the Panthers fell 70-48 against Columbia at Columbia High School.
“Columbia is just a really good team and they came out and played really well tonight,” Quitman head coach Steve Hampton said. “They are a very athletic team.”
Columbia was led by Daniel Jackson, who scored a game-high 16 points in the win.
Quitman was led by DeQuan Stanley, who scored 15 points in the loss.
Darius Hicks had 10 points for the Panthers, including three dunks on the night, and Josh Cannon had seven points in the contest.
Quitman falls to 18-9 on the season with the loss, while Columbia improves to 26-4 with the win.
“It’s disapointing, especially for the five seniors on the team,” Hampton said. “But we have a core group of younger players that have started during the season for next season.”
