MCC baseball to reschedule game against Shelton State

MERIDIAN — The Meridian Community College Eagles were scheduled to host Shelton State Community College Thursday night at Scaggs Field, but the single game against the Buccaneers has been cancelled due to rain.

MCC (17-26) had won its last two games heading into Thursday’s scheduled home game and recently captured its first Miss-Lou Conference victory of the season last weekend against third-ranked Delgado Community College (14-3). MCC defeated Mississippi Delta earlier this week by a final score of 6-0 behind six scoreless innings on the mound by Ole Miss signee Mitchell Babb.

The Eagles will return to action this Saturday against Bossier Parish in a single game that is scheduled for 1 p.m. The game will be played in Jackson, MS at Smith-Wills Stadium. MCC is scheduled to play two more games to close out the 2013 regular season before traveling to Delgado to take part in the Region 23 Tournament on May 11-12.

MCC will travel to Shelton State Community College Sunday afternoon for a single game at 2 p.m. and the final game of the regular season will take place next Tuesday (May 7) against Alabama Southern at 4 p.m. The single game against Alabama Southern will be played at Thomasville High School.
