EC battles PRC to begin Region 23 Tournament

DECATUR — The MACJC State Champion East Central Community College Diamond Warriors begin their quest for a regional title by taking on host Pearl River Community College at 7 p.m. tonight in first-round action of the Region 23 Tournament scheduled on PRC’s Poplarville campus.

    The top-seeded EC squad brings a 31-19 record to the double-elimination event, while No. 4 Pearl River is 39-12.

    In the other first-round matchup, No. 2 LSU-Eunice (45-8) battles No. 3 Northwest (31-16) at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

    Game times are also set for 3:30 and 7 p.m. Friday, May 17.*

    The championship contest is scheduled at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 18. (Should a game seven be necessary to determine the champion, the contest will be played at 2 p. m. Sunday, May 19).
