Meridian track shines in state meet

MERIDIAN — The Meridian High School girl’s track team won the 6A South State track meet Saturday.

The Lady Wildcats finished first claiming their third straight south state title, led by Zaria Jones and Keyana Boyd. †Boyd won the 3200 meter run, 1600 meter run and 800 meter run, while Jones finished second in the 100 meter hurdles and 300 hurdles. Jones also finished second in the high jump, clearing 5-feet-6. †The Lady Wildcats finished first claiming their third straight south state title.

The boys were led by senior Eddie Cole. Cole finished third in the 200 meter dash and 400. †Taron King also finished fourth in the 110 meter hurdles. The boys finished 2nd in the 6A South State meet.

Meridian will be back in action Saturday for the 6A State meet to be held in Pearl.
