West baseball wins Game 1

COLLINSVILLE — COLLINSVILLE — West Lauderdale High School got off to a strong start in the MHSAA Class 4A playoffs, topping Itawamba Agricultural High School, 5-2, Thursday.

Daniel Hill tallied two RBIs and one home run for the Knights, and Colton McKeithen, Chase McClelland and Blake Anderson all had RBIs for West as well.

Will Stokes got the win, pitching all seven innings and giving up two runs, none earned, on three hits and one walk. He also struck out 11 batters.

West (27-1) will play at Itawamba Agricultural at 6 p.m. today for Game 2 of the best-of-three series.
