NEL tops NE Jones, 13-2

MERIDIAN —     Northeast Lauderdale High School tallied 15 hits in a 13-2 win against MHSAA Region 5-4A opponent Northeast Jones High School in Tuesday night baseball action.

    Blake Sanders went 2-for-3 on the night, and Andrew White finished 2-for-4. Devin Sisson was a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, and LaDale Cockrell also had a double and wound up 2-for-4.

    Ben Smith was the winning pitcher for Northeast, and he went the distance while surrendering just two runs on five hits. He also fanned four batters and walked just one.

Northeast (12-8, 5-3) will host Northeast Jones High School at 7 p.m. Thursday.
