Southeast gets wins in baseball, softball

MERIDIAN — Southeast Lauderdale High School swept two games with a 10-2 win against Quitman High School and an 8-7 win against Enterprise High School in Saturday afternoon baseball action.

In Game 2, Southeast won on a walkoff single by Jake Smith in the bottom of the seventh that scored Brett Carney.

Cage Hagan was 3-for-4 in the second game, and Mason Irby and Carney were both 2-for-4 with a double.

Hunter Graham got the win against Enterprise, going four innings and surrendering one run on three hits with two walks.

In the first game, Luke Flies was the winning pitcher. He went the full seven innings, giving up two runs on six hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

Carner and Miller were both 2-for-4 in Game 1, and Nathan Ross finished 2-for-5.

Southeast (14-7, 7-0) will host Raleigh High School at home at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, weather-permitting.

Nancy Williams was 3-for-4 with a double for Southeast Lauderdale as the Lady Tigers beat Enterprise, 14-7, in Saturday afternoon softball action.

Lauren Yeager was the winning pitcher for Southeast, and Charise Harbin had a triple.
